Red

So R's old nanny, D came over today to pick up her T4 slip. She's a sweet little Philippene lady - R is the same height as her! She came in to watch some Price is Right with us while she waited for her bus. R's updating her on everything that's been going on since D left. Then R looks at her and says, "Wanna see my face turn red?" She then proceeds to hold her breath and stiffen her head to the point where it starts shakin a lil bit. But she lets go too soon and says, "See??" D replies, "Your face didn't really turn redd..." R says, "Oh..." and proceeds onto the next topic of conversation.

My point in telling this, is it reminded me of another story. Sounding familiar Britt?

So, it's grade 8. I have just moved to Riverview from Fredericton (2 hours apart, if you're not from these parts). Britt is my new (and only) friend. Britt comes over after school for the first time. (This is after her introductory, "Everybody needs a friend" bit). We're in my room, doin whatever it was that 8th graders do. I remember it very clearly. Britt is standing in my doorway and says, "I can make my face turn purple!" (PURPLE... I think that's a one-up from R... red is nothin compared to purple!) Britt proceeds to do the same thing R was doing - holding breath, head-shaking nonsense. But Britt is standing up. Then, yes... her face actually does turn purple. Followed by Britt getting dizzy and almost passing out on my floor. HAH! She's all about the first impressions, this one. :P
