Ahh To Be 8 Again
The life of a second-grader - so sweet. I'm sittin here, watchin the Grammys and I see R's project outline sittin here on the desk. It reads:
Choose one of the following topics:
1. Research an Australian animal (wombat, Tasmanian devil, kangaroo, dingo dog, koala, platypus, etc.)
Do no write more than a page about this animal.
Where does it live?
What does it eat?
Who are its prey?
Who are its predators?
What does it look like?
Does the animal have any special characteristics?
If you have a picture to include or if you would like to draw one, please do so. (Heck yes, I'd like to be drawing a picture for a project!)
2. Research the country of Australia
Do not write more than a page. (OK, if you say so!)
What is the capital city?
Where is Australia?
How many people live there?
What is the climate? (weather) <--- Clarification, we would NOT see that in a uni project!
What are some interesting facts about Australia?
What are the main industries?
If you have any pictures you can include them.
This will be the only homework this week. (Holaaay, if it were uni we would have readings, a presentation, and a midterm on top of that.. for the same class.. plus all the work for our other classes!)
So, I must say, I wish I were 8 again... even though I'm not currently a student.
A couple lil quotes from Reta:
-Driving home from school, very randomly "Amy, do you ever notice that every family has its own smell?" (sooo true.. but so random and observant for an 8-year-old!!)
-Driving into Spryfield, "Yeah, you know we're in Spryfield, see all those junkie stores??"

Here, this might help her project:
Coober Pedy in South Australia is known as the opal capital of the world. Its population is made up of more than 40 nationalities and, with year-round extremes in temperature, more than 50 per cent of the population live in below-ground 'dugouts'.
Now that's cool. You're welcome. Oh, and the capital is Canberra.
She did her project on Koalas.. and it's done.
the people live in BELOW GROUND DUGOUTS!!! how fuckin cool is that?! TELL HER TO PUT IT IN HER PROJECT!!!!
Reta says, "Screw you."
